We have tested the Queueing ToolPak 4.0 with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8, with Excel 2000, Excel 2003, Excel 2007, 32-bit Excel 2010, and Excel 2013. The Queueing ToolPak may or may not work on other platforms.
The Queueing ToolPak 4.0 does not work on the following platforms: Macintosh, 64-bit Excel 2010.
The instructions below are for Excel 2010 and 2013 for Windows.
If you have an earlier version of the Queueing ToolPak, then follow these
instructions to remove it before installing QTP 4.0.
Double-click qtp.exe . Click "OK" and then
"Unzip." This will "unzip" the files necessary for the
Queueing ToolPak to work and copy them to your hard disk. By default,
the files are copied to C:\QTP\ but you can change the folder if you
wish. Click "Close."
To load QTP 4.0, open Excel and click the File
ribbon, then "Options," "Add-Ins," and then
click "Go ..." next to "Excel add-ins." You should see the following
window:
Click the browse
button, browse to the folder that you unzipped the QTP files to (C:\QTP\ by
default), select qtp.xll and click "OK." Click
"OK" again. The message below should appear indicating that
the Queueing ToolPak has been loaded. Click "OK."
To verify that the Queueing ToolPak has been loaded correctly, look for
an "Add-Ins" ribbon with a new QTP menu and choose help from that menu. As well, open the
function wizard and look for a new function category for "Queueing
ToolPak."
You are now ready to use the Queuing ToolPak. The help file (also
available here) contains
a tutorial that can help get you started.
To unload QTP 4.0, open Excel, click the File ribbon, then Options," "Add-Ins," and then click "Go ..."
next to "Excel add-ins." Uncheck the "Queueing ToolPak
4.0" option. Click "OK." You should see a dialog
box confirming that QTP has been unloaded. Unloading disables the
add-in temporarily, without removing the add-in files. To load QTP 4.0
again, follow the instructions in step 1 above.
Follow these instructions to completely remove QTP 4.0 from your computer.
Unload QTP 4.0, by opening Excel, clicking the File ribbon, then "Options," "Add-Ins," and "Go ..." next to
"Excel add-ins." Uncheck the "Queueing ToolPak 4.0" option. Click "OK.
Exit from Excel. Find and delete the following files from your hard drive: qtp.xll, qtp.chm.
Open Excel again, click the File ribbon, then "Options," "Add-Ins," and "Go ..." next to
"Excel add-ins." Look for "qtp" in the add-in list. Click on this
entry. When asked whether you want to remove the entry from the list
of add-ins, click "Yes."
Unload all previous versions of QTP, by opening Excel, clicking the File ribbon, then "Options," "Add-Ins," and
"Go ..." next to "Excel add-ins." Uncheck all
"Queueing ToolPak" entries in the list. Click
"OK."
Exit from Excel. Search for the following files on your hard drive
(and connected network drives, if you have any),
and delete them if you find them:
QueueingToolPak.xla
qtp2_97.xla
qtp2help.hlp
qtp2help.cnt
qtp2_97.exe
qtp.xll
qtp.chm
Open Excel again, click the File ribbon,
then "Options," "Add-Ins," and "Go ..." next to "Excel add-ins." Look for any entries that include "qtp"
or "Queueing ToolPak." Click on each such entry and click
"Yes" when asked whether you want to remove the entry
from the list of add-ins.
Problem: the qtp.exe file does not unzip properly. Solution:
delete the qtp.exe file from your hard drive and download
qtp.xls
and qtp.chm into the same folder.
Change the name of "qtp.xls" to "qtp.xll". Then follow the instructions to
load QTP 4.0.
Problem: the QTP menu is not added properly to Excel, or the QTP
help file cannot be accessed from within Excel. Solution:
access the online version of the help file
instead. Alternatively, try unzipping the QTP files to the default
folder for Excel add-ins, likely named something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\Library, and then repeat the procedure to load QTP 4.0.
Tip: You may need to adjust your security or Trust Centre settings
to allow new add-ins.
